A new website for Drala Jong

We are very pleased to announce that Drala Jong now has a new website.

The new site replaces the old blog (https://drala-jong.blogspot.com/) as a place to find all the latest news about the progress of the project and the eventual development of a retreat centre in Wales.

To stay up to date with progress please visit

The Vision of Drala Jong

Buddhism, as commonly encountered, is monastically based – and thus not naturally aligned to contemporary culture. There is a growing need therefore, to establish a venue for receiving instruction that supports living within mainstream society. To this end, the Aro gTér lineage draws on the history of the 84 Tantric Adepts: amongst whom was an entrepreneur, merchant, farmer, cattle drover, fisherman, weaver, dancer, poet, musician, athlete, king, and soldier – and each one achieved the highest accomplishment.

The name 'Drala Jong'

"Drala Jong innately exists in human beings. ‘Drala’ is the appreciative faculty which exponentially enlivens people the more they engage with the world. Appreciation is the key to enjoyment and to the delighting in the enjoyment of others. When we learn to appreciate phenomena our sense fields ‘Jong’ begin to sparkle and a sense of generosity is born which connects us with others. We would like Drala Jong to be a place where human beings could discover the pleasure of existence – the pleasure that animates the sense fields and revitalises the Arts – and the art of living."
— Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen

Drala Jong Appeal

The Drala Jong Appeal is managed by Sang-ngak-chö-dzong [British Registered Charity N° 1019886] and Aro Gar Inc. [US registered 501(c)(3) non-profit]. From its inception in 2007, the appeal is now entering its final phase – establishing a centre

The new website carries information about Drala Jong, about the Aro gTér Tradition and how you can help this vision become a reality.

Searching and Shopping for Drala Jong - raising money at no cost to yourself

Searching and Shopping for Drala Jong

Raise Money for Drala Jong - at no cost to yourself

Dear Supporters,

We would very much like your help in raising money for Drala Jong and it won't cost you a penny you simply need to search the web and shop. Sang-ngak-chö-dzong, the UK charity of the Aro gTér Lineage, is registered with two online services that help raising money for charities.

How it works

Web search: When you use the alternative search engine Everyclick instead of Google or Yahoo, the web searches that you make will raise small amounts of money for our charity.
Online shopping: When you start all your online shopping trips via the website Give as you live, you can choose your favorite place for online shopping there (like e.g. Amazon, Ebay, Marks & Spencer, Boots, and others) and a small percentage of your amount spent later will go to our charity and thus help funding Drala Jong.

Both services will not cost you anything.

To make it work

In order to support the Drala Jong appeal, you need to sign up with these services and identify yourself as a supporter of Sang-ngak-chö-dzong on all devices that you use for searching the web or online shopping. Everyclick and Give as you Live are services by the same company.

This is how to do it:

1. Register
Then carry out these four steps:
Sign up -> Create Your Account -> Enter Your Details - Finish
Then you will be asked to Sign In with the email address and password that you have just given.

2. Choose Sang-ngak-chö-dzong

Then all you have to do is make sure that the cause you are supporting is ‘Sang-ngak-chö-dzong’.
Please start here: https://www.giveasyoulive.com
Then carry out these five steps:
My Account -> Change charity -> Search for 1019886 -> Charity Details -> Support this charity
(Or take this shortcut https://www.giveasyoulive.com/account/change-charity?q=1019886)

3. Searching & Shopping

From then on for searching the web please use https://www.everyclick.com
And for shopping please start from https://www.giveasyoulive.com

Both pages show that you are logged in and that you are supporting Sang-ngak-chö-dzong.

Money

All money raised for Drala Jong helps, even when it is only pennies, they all add up.  Our expectation is that we can raise as much as £1,000 a year if as many people as possible use the services frequently.

Is there a catch?

Give as you live will link you mainly to UK based websites, like Amazon.co.uk, Boots, etc. So it might turn out to be primarily an option for UK based shoppers and everybody who wants to buy with British shops. You will find that some of the shops available via Give as You Live offer generous percentages - Boots offer 4%.  So if you are going shopping online, please go via  https://www.giveasyoulive.com to find your shop, and Drala Jong will receive the money.

Everyclick will work internationally, so we all can start searching the web with it now.

Please do contact us if you experience any difficulty with the websites - we are happy to help anytime.

With many thanks to all our supporters,

Naljorpa Traktung & Naljorpa Ja’gyür

Drala Jong Yuletide Appeal

The season of the Yuletide Frog has arrived - the season of merriment, feasting...and giving.

Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen, the Aro gTér Lineage Holders,  have requested that anybody who feels moved to send them something for Christmas give a donation to the Drala Jong Appeal rather than sending them presents.

For this year we have set up a special Yuletide appeal to collect any gifts that you would like to send so that we can announce at the end of the Yuletide period how much has been raised from your generosity - and that of the Lineage Holders.

If you feel moved to go along with this, please use this link: http://givi.ng/qvpd

The link leads you directly to the TotalGiving page - the website of an organisation that the Drala Jong appeal uses to collect money. By clicking the big yellow “Donate Now” button, you can make a donation by using any credit card, or via Paypal or Direct Debit. The website will ask for your name, address and email address, but we will not contact you any further if you do not opt in for receiving our newsletter.

You may wish to consider letting friends and family know of this appeal - especially those who have attended events with Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen.

The appeal will run until the 5th January 2018 and we shall announce the results of the appeal in the week following.

Please do contact  Naljorpa Ja’gyür or Naljorpa Traktung if you experience any difficulty with the Total Giving website - we are happy to help anytime.

Much love and enjoy the season!

The name ‘Drala Jong’, means ‘Sparkling Meadow of Primal Iridescence’

The name ‘Drala Jong’, means ‘Sparkling Meadow of Primal Iridescence’. Of this name, Spiritual Directors Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen write:

Drala Jong innately exists in human beings.

‘Drala’ is the appreciative faculty which exponentially enlivens people the more they engage with the world. Appreciation is the key to enjoyment and to the delighting in the enjoyment of others.

When we learn to appreciate phenomena our sense fields Jong’ begin to sparkle and a sense of generosity is born which connects us with others.

Although Vajrayana Buddhism is by no means unknown in the West – the sense in which enjoyment and compassion are mutually interdependent remains unexpressed.

We would like Drala Jong to be a place where human beings could discover the pleasure of existence – the pleasure that animates the sense fields and revitalises the Arts – and the art of living.

Drala Jong - Establishing a retreat centre

The need to provide a facility where people can obtain inspiration without removing themselves from everyday society is clear.

We are therefore looking to establish a retreat centre in Wales, where people can study with teachers – most of whom are married couples with children. Individuals will then be able to practise what they have assimilated – and return to their lives refreshed and invigorated.

Open Teaching Retreats at Drala Jong will include guidance in systems of meditation, yogic song and music, physical yogas, romantic relationship – and, in the spiritual dimension of dance, art, and craft.

This will be the fulfilment of the vision of Kyabjé Düd’jom Rinpoche, the most remarkable Tibetan Lama of the 20th Century and Head of the Nyingma Buddhist Tradition, who gave instruction for the establishment of our organisation in 1977.

A lineage uniquely suited to the West

The Aro gTér Lineage of the Nyingma Tradition is uniquely suited to the West, as it emphasises integration with the secular world.

It cultivates gender equality founded on active appreciation – and teaches romantic relationship as one of the most essential practices.

Both ordained and non-ordained practitioners engage with society, pursue careers, and enjoy family life.

Emphasis is placed on the Arts, as creativity that extends into the broader spectrum of human endeavours – including environmental, sartorial, and culinary Art.

In this, every human being is an Artist in the most profound sense.
